MARLOC is not just a surface treatment, but a three dimensional form of soil stabilization. It penetrates the surface
and forms a dimensional block. It provides a form of cementation for loose soil particles and this resuults in cohesive
strength. Yet MARLOC can also be used where revegetation is the prime objective. This is a long term liquid stabilizer
with effective control being provided for up to two years.
MARLOC provides poper technological means for environmental practices helping to reduce erosion problems. Its a
cost effective means for dust control, soil stabilization, and rvegetation.
MARLOC is used for tabilizing bared erodable banks, temporary roads, alongside walkways and nature trails. The
performance of MARLOC is impressive in it's ability to hold down what would be airborne dust from vehicular traffic, strong
winds and from aircraft during take off and landings. MARLOC may be used in combination with dry powder tackifiers for
special applications. Filters may also be added for increased viscosity when using the splat-droplet technique for straw
or fiberglass roving.
MARLOC is formulated to perform effectivily in conventional application equipment. Although this liquid material
is generally applied with a hydraulic mulcher, other spray machines including a water truck may be used. When incorporating
mulch, seed and fertilizer in the prpared slurry, a hydraulic mulcher must be used to prevent application nozzle plugging.
MARLOC curing is based on weather conditions of time, temperature and humidity. On warm dry days 4 to 6 hours is
usually sufficient but in cooler temperature, the curing time may extend to 48 hours. It is important to keep the treated
area dry and free of water from sprinklers and irrigation until cured. When temperatures are near freezing the addidion
of Glycol should be made to the application slurry.
The mixing and spraying equipment should be cleaned after use. Hosing down the tank, pump and nozzle a few times
with water should be sufficient. Don't allow MARLOC to dry on equipment. During hydromulch application, personnel
should stand upwind of spray and avoid overspray on nearby objects. When cured MARLOC will not harm plant or animal
life.
For best performance apply MARLOC when soil is hydrophillic in nature, sufficient to allow the entry of emulsion
polymer. Since dry soils may not readily accept water, they should be sprayed with water first. Or a surfactant
may be added to aid the polymers penetration into the soil. A minimum penetration of 1/4 to 1/2 inch is recommended.
Deeper penetration is advisable at some locations. When such deep penetration is desired, a second or third coat maybe
necessary. Or, the soil may be tilled, sprayed and rolled.
